Diriye Bile was arrested as he stepped off a plane at O'Hare International Airport earlier this month, Boston Police said. Bile ran away after the Roxbury shooting to his homeland of Ethiopia, where he remained until his capture earlier this month, authorities said.

Detectives said Bile shot a man in the stomach on June 29, 2014, outside of 15 Ruggles Street between Washington Street and Shawmut Avenue. It's unclear what sparked the incident, but the victim survived his wounds, authorities said.

Officials charged Bile with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, unlawful possession of a firearm, and carrying a loaded gun, authorities said.

Illinois officials extradited Bile to Boston earlier this week, and prosecutors arraigned him on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
